Lock, Stock and 4 Smoking Wheels!

nick-moran-at-diamond-alloysIt is not every day you get to meet someone famous, but this week our Workshop Manager Amerjit Ubhi was lucky enough to meet top actor and director Nick Moran, known mostly for his appearance in Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Harry Potter the Deathly Hallows.

Pictured here at Diamond Alloys with Amerjit, Nick Moran was given the full guided tour of our alloy wheel refurbishment centre while his alloys were being fitted.

Nick brought his classic Scimitar car into Diamond alloys to have 4 buckles fixed in addition to a new painted finish. Take a look at the finished wheels below and you will see why Nick has such a big smile on his face!

Diamond Alloys can refurbish most alloy wheels and specialises in both classic cars and performance cars. This is the first time we have repaired and refurbished Scimitar wheels, so it was not only an honour to repair these, but also to have such a well know actor on the premises.

See Nick in action in the Lock, Stock and 2 Smoking Barrels trailer below.

Kerbed Alloy Wheels Get a Diamond Cut Makeover at Diamond Alloys

diamond-cut-alloy-wheelsHere is a great example of how badly damaged alloy wheels can get when parking a car too close to a kerb. The scuff marks on the alloy of this VW Golf were extreme and completely destroy the look of the rim, and the car! However, all is not lost and you do not have to go out and buy new alloy wheels; which can be costly. Most scuffs and kerbing damage can be repaired easily, either with a standard painted refurbishment or with a Diamond cut finish. This wheel received the full Diamond cut treatment, where the wheel is cleaned and keyed before cutting on the lathe. This special machine cuts away a thin layer of the metal to the level of the damage, completely removing it and bringing the alloy wheel back to life. The result should be a shiny surface with feint lines across it (a bit like the back of a CD).

One of these alloys also had a buckle, a common problem often caused by driving over potholes too fast. Diamond Alloys can repair buckles, bringing your alloy wheel back to the correct circular shape before any refurbishment is carried out.

Don’t despair if your alloys look as bad as these rims did. Having your alloys repaired and refurbished will save you money and give you a great result. If you want a quotation, simple send us a picture of your alloys and we will be happy to give you a great price, and don’t forget, have all 4 wheels repaired at the same time and we’ll give you a discount!

Get the Right Tyres for Your Cars with Help From Diamond Alloys

IMG_0134-2If a car says a lot about you, then the tyres say a lot about your lifestyle. If you want to get the most out of your car, wherever you’re planning to drive it, then finding the right kind of tyres is essential. Diamond Alloys can not only give you expert advice on which tyres are best for you, but we can even source you the perfect pair, saving you the hassle of shopping around, and ensuring that you get the perfect tyre and alloy package first time.

One of the most well-known instances where you need specialist tyres is if you own a supercar – if you’re planning to drive fast, take corners at speed and generally enjoy your powerful vehicle, you’ll need a high performance tyre that gives you traction and an increased ability to react to the landscape. But this isn’t the only case in which you have to think about your tyre choice – if you’re going to spend a lot of time on motorways, for example, you should look for something that increases your fuel economy and provides a quiet, comfortable ride.

To learn more about which tyres are right for you, pop down to our West London Alloy Wheel refurbishment centre for a chat with one of our experts. Don’t forget we can help you with a new look for your alloys with a wheel refurbishment while you’re there!

Painted Alloy Wheels From Diamond Alloys Make This Mini Look Amazing

6Our paint technicians are highly skilled and can easily paint your alloys in any shade you like. This week we have been particularly pleased with these MINI alloy wheels which have just been finished by the Diamond Alloys refurb team.

At Diamond alloys, we take extra care of your wheels to make sure you will have the finish you want! Once your wheels have arrived at our London Refurbishment Centre, our skilled technicians remove the tyres using a specialist machine. All wheels are carefully checked by a technician in case there is a crack or buckle damage, both of which can be repaired by Diamond Alloys. After inspection they are placed in the Aquablast machine which removes dirt and grease and cleans the wheel surface. All wheels go into our oven to make sure no air is trapped within the alloy. We also ensure all painted wheels have a powder coat applied, which can be in your chosen colour; some alloy wheel repair companies do not apply a powder coat but we believe the coating helps achieve the best results!

Take a look at the pictures below which show some of the different stages the Mini wheels went through to get this beautiful glossy finished result.

When the alloy wheels reach the final stage of their refurbishment they pass through quality control where our technicians check they meet our high standards of finish. Then tyres are ready to be re-fitted, inflated to the correct pressure and re balanced, which is a FREE service included in the price we quote!

We are very pleased with the black finish on the alloy wheels which perfectly match with the front bonnet stripe on the bodywork of the Mini. If you like this black finish and looking for something similar, call us on 0845 370 8881 now!

THE PITFALLS OF POTHOLES AND HOW DIAMOND ALLOYS CAN FIX POTHOLE DAMAGE

These days the roads are sadly full of potholes, particularly after the recent bad weather, and even the most careful drivers can be caught out. If you hit a pothole while driving, it’s important to stop somewhere safe to check your wheels and tyres – especially if you feel that the car is pulling to one side, experience vibration or have difficulty steering.

Although your first instinct after an incident should be basic checks to your tyre pressure and steering capability, it’s important to remember that potholes can also dent and crack your alloys – especially if you have larger alloys on tyres with low profile sidewalls.

If you sustain pothole damage to your alloys you don’t necessarily have to buy new ones – but it is important to get them seen by professionals as soon as possible. Here at Diamond Alloys our experts can repair both dents and cracks at a fraction of what it would cost to buy new wheels.

IMG_2261-2For dented alloys, our specialist buckle straightening service will have them as good as new within 24 hours – stopping them from creating dangerous vibrations that can both seriously damage your car and make you fail an MOT. The service can be performed even if you have multiple dents and costs from as little as £60 + VAT – saving you literally thousands in tyre and vehicle repair bills later on.

If your alloys are cracked, then our welding service is for you. We first remove any contamination from the crack or fracture, then weld both sides of the alloy to ensure it’s as strong as a new wheel, before polishing up the weld to remove the possibility of tyre damage later on. You can pair this service with an alloy refurbishment, which will have them looking like they’ve never been near a pothole in their lives! Repairing cracks starts from just £65 + VAT, why not call on 0845 370 8881 or email us for a free quotation today?

BMW M5’s Alloys refurbished at Diamond Alloys

Check out these gorgeous 17 inch BMW M5 alloy wheels which we have just finished refurbishing at Diamond Alloys.

Our client wanted a finish that resembled metal so we recommended a shadow chrome alloy wheel finish would be his best option. This painted finish allows our technicians to repair any damage caused by kerbing or scuffing wheels while parking ensuring the wheel has a beautiful flat surface to work from.

The ground coat that we apply is important because the colour of the base determines the obtained shadow chrome effect. If the base is dark; for example black, dark blue or dark grey you will obtain a dark chrome effect. If the base is a light colour; like white, grey or silver, you will achieve a lighter shadow chrome effect. A satin or gloss finish can also be applied to the shadow chrome also achieving a different result.

Shadow Chrome is fast becoming one of our most popular alloy wheel repair finish. If you want more details, simply call us on 0845 370 8881 or email us direct.

Audi Gets a Great Shadow Chrome Paint Wheel Refurbishment at Diamond Alloys

diamondalloys-shadow-chrome-alloy-wheels

Diamond Alloys offers customers a variety of finishes for their alloys to either give them a great new look or to help repair scuffs and scrapes often as a result of parking to close to kerbs.

These pictures illustrate the popular shadow chrome painted finish ideal for revamping tired alloy wheels. A shadow chrome alloy wheel finish gives the alloy wheel the effect of a metal finish in the paint. Achieving this look requires dedicated time and skill; more than required for a standard painted finish.

Our paint technicians are highly skilled and can easily shadow chrome car or bike alloy wheels at our West London based alloy wheel refurbishment center.

The wheel is prepared in the same way as a standard refurbishment but an additional lacquered ground coat is applied to the wheel. Following this a very fine silver dust is carefully applied in layers to allow the gloss of the ground coat to shine through. The wheel is lacquered a second time which seals the layers of silver power creating a ‘double gloss’ effect. The end result is a highly reflective surface and an enhanced metallic appearance.

If you want to have a shadow chrome finish applied to your alloy wheels, just like the ones featured on the Audi pictured here, simply call our customer care advisors who will be happy to give you more details about all our services and prices. Call now on 0845 370 2222.

Why Repairing Alloys Can Be Cheaper Than Buying New

Like all automotive tools and accessories, alloy wheels can go through a lot of wear and tear. This is especially true if you have alloy wheels for super cars. Car enthusiasts believe cars are meant to be driven and while this enjoyment lasts as your car explores the motorways, the wear and tear on your alloys is going to have a long-lasting effect. Weather affects the look of alloy wheels.Corrosion and fading paint are both the results of bad weather, making alloys look less new.

Refurbishing alloy wheels is not costly and it has its benefits. Buying new sets of alloys all the time to deal with wear and tear will end up being more costly than it needs to be. Refurbishing your current alloys can help sort out the scrapes and weathering issues that change how they look. All refurbishing work is always done by professionals so you know that your alloys are in good hands.

In addition to being cheaper, other benefits of repairing your current alloy wheels is that you give them a longer shelf life. You also keep the current style that you have become used to and you save yourself time looking for replacement alloy wheel styles.
