Diamond Alloys repair and refurbish damaged alloys

“Only 4,000 miles on the clock and one careful owner”. This kind of phrase is liable to send a shiver up many a potential car buyer’s spine. When you buy a second hand car, particularly from a car auction, you have to accept that it could come with some flaws, no matter how carefully you look. Sometimes, obvious cosmetic defects will allow you to grab an absolute bargain – mainly because the owners don’t realise how quick, cheap and easy they are to fix.

Take alloys, for example. Whether the car has one, two or indeed an entire set of alloys that are dented, scuffed or scratched, it can make a car look tired and significantly reduce the sale value. The cost of replacing the alloys may have been off-putting for the previous owner, but you don’t have to make the same mistake. Diamond Alloys can repair and refurbish damaged alloys, allowing you to make a significant cost saving and get your second hand car looking as if it’s just rolled out of the dealership.

One of the services we offer is Diamond Cutting, which uses precision tools to remove only what is necessary from the rims. The process starts with a specialist pressure wash, which removes all dirt and allows us to better survey the condition of the wheel. After this, we cut the wheel to remove all the damage, leaving a smooth finish that shines. Finally, our technicians coat the rim with scratch proof lacquer and bake the alloy to seal the coating. When the alloys are refitted, we balance the tyre and restore it to the correct pressure, allowing you to drive away with peace of mind that your wheels are in the best possible condition.

Diamond Alloys have a service for almost every alloy damage: even if your alloy is buckled, for example, we have specialist hydraulic techniques that will straighten them out to their original shape.

Call our experts today to find out how our alloy repair service can make your second hand car look as good as new.

Diamond Alloys offer a top-quality repair and refurbishment service

Alloys can be both a blessing and a curse. When your alloys are immaculate, there’s no greater feeling than walking to your car and seeing them shine. If you’re unlucky enough to have a dent, scuff or scratch on them, however, it can ruin your vehicle’s appearance and be a niggling concern that ruins your enjoyment of the car.

Whilst worth the investment, there’s no doubt that alloys are costly – and having to replace either one or a full set can be an unwelcome and badly-timed expense. Fortunately, Diamond Alloys offer a top-quality repair and refurbishment service that will get your alloys looking brand new for a fraction of the cost.

Our expert technicians use state-of-the art machinery that allows them to employ techniques like diamond cutting, which can be carried out on alloys up to 22” in size. Acid Dip Alloy Wheels Removes Corrosion

At Diamond Alloys we believe in offering our trade and retail customers a superb finish. Achieving a good finish can depend a lot on the preparation of the wheel before it is painted. Many wheels come to our London Alloy Wheel refurbishment centre with a lot of corrosion which is caused by water and especially saltwater attacking the alloy when the protective lacquer layer is damaged from kerbing or chips.

These pictures indicate what alloy wheel corrosion looks like, which can become quite advanced if not addressed quickly and will most likely contribute to air loss on your tyres. However, you don’t have to outlay a huge amount of cash on purchasing new alloy wheels. Although this damage looks bad it can be easily removed simply by placing in an acid dip bath. The alloy will have to remain in acid for a period of time, depending on how excessive it is, and our trained technicians will be able to evaluate this. Acid is dangerous so we do recommend you let experts like ours carry out this task.

Once the corrosion has been removed from your alloy wheels it is washed down and then proceeds to our preparation room where any damage is repaired. After this stage we would powder coat each wheel to ensure a smooth an even surface is achieved before applying a colour or a diamond cut.

Applying lacquer is a very important stage as it gives the alloy a protective layer to help stop water from accessing the metal and causing further corrosion damage. The difference in the look of your alloy wheel will be stunning, not only will they look good but without loss of air your car will be more efficient and perform better too.

Mini gets Fab Split Rim makeover at Diamond Alloys!

Joe from Wimbledon brought his mini alloy wheels into our workshop in very poor condition. Two of the wheels had buckles and all of these wheels were showing extensive corrosion and wear and tear.

Both of these problems can easily be fixed at Diamond Alloys, saving Joe from having to buy new and facing a huge price tag! To fix the corrosion, our guys placed the alloys into our acid bath, which eats away the corrosive damage the wheels have sustained. The wheels are then cleaned and prepped.

6Buckles are a common problem on alloy wheels, usually sustained by driving over potholes and can cause your tyres to loose air and potentially fail an MOT. However, a straightening repair is easy and managed in house at Diamond Alloys ensuring costs and repair times are both kept to a minimum.

Once all damages have been repaired then fun can start! We can repair and refurbish both split rims and cosmetic split rims to produce a look which is unrecognisable compared to when they arrive. Check out the before and after pictures and you will see how the repair and standard painted finish with a Diamond Cut lip brought these 17” mini alloys back to life. The customer requested that he did not wish us to put the caps back on.

The finished result was amazing and our happy customer said I had very badly corroded split rim multi-spoked alloys on my Mini. Diamond Alloys, and in particular John, were very helpful in talking me through what was involved and assessing what they could do, along with presenting options for me to consider based on my budget.  I was looking for a very high quality finish and came away very happy with the end results.  The wheels looked as good as new with a beautiful finish and the assurance of a one year guarantee on the work.  I would highly recommend them.” Joe from Wimbledon.

If you have damaged split rim alloy wheels, then bring them down to Diamond Alloys and we can advise the best finish to give them a great new look. Call us on 0845 370 8881 or get a quick quote here!

Diamond Alloys Powder Coat Machine Process

steveAt Diamond Alloys we aim to always keep our technology and working practices bang up to date by upgrading our machinery and training staff with new and improved techniques.

Earlier this year, we upgraded our powder coat machine to improve the finish we can achieve and to shorten lead times, so that we can not only offer great looking refurbished alloys wheels but an even better service. The process offers a smoother finish and a quicker bake time, not surprising since the oven heats to an impressive 230℃!

The upgraded machine involves the following process:

  • Degas the alloys at 230℃+ for a minimum of 15 minutes
  • Turn the heat down to 200℃ – 210℃ as coating begins
  • Prime the alloy wheel in the spray booth
  • Bake the powder coated alloys for 5 – 10 minutes when last wheel goes back into oven
  • Remove wheels once baking is complete and cool to 80℃
  • Add the base coat to colour
  • Flash off 5 – 10 minutes before putting back into oven
  • Put back into oven for 10 – 15 minutes ready for clear coat
  • Apply Clear coat
  • Put last wheel back into oven and bake for 10 – 15 minutes
  • Remove from oven and cool

If you want to get a really great looking set of alloy wheels, we highly recommend a powder coat process is used. For more information on what services we can offer for your alloys, simply call us on 0845 370 8881 or get a quick quote here.

Vintage Volvo alloy wheels gets star treatment at Diamond Alloys

1At Diamond Alloys we love alloy wheels of all shapes and sizes, but nothing pleases us more than to have a rare or vintage car roll up outside our London workshop.

This month we had an even bigger treat when automobile author George Mowat-Brown pulled up in his vintage Volvo. George writes books on vintage cars and the back grounds on the manufacturers, so he knows his stuff when it comes to cars and how to look after them so we were privileged to have him trust us with his prized possession.

George wanted the full works, not only booking his alloys in for a painted refurbishment but also asked us to source and replace his tyres, which we were happy to arrange.

Featured here are before and after pictures of George’s alloy wheels in addition to a picture of him with his vintage vehicle. George was very happy with the finish Diamond Alloys achieved and said “The Service has been brilliant, a 43 Year old car and the wheels look brand new. I would recommend other old cars to Diamond Alloys.”

We would like to thank George for his kind comments and for entrusting us with his vintage Volvo alloys. If you have a vintage car and need the alloy wheels repaired or refurbished, simply call us on 0845 370 8881 or get a quick quote on-line!

Mercedes Split Rim Alloy Wheels get a new lease of life!

It is tempting to buy new alloys when yours are scuffed, kerbed or corroded, but it is not always necessary! These 18 “Mercedes Split rim alloy wheels were in a poor condition with the additional problem of a buckle. All these repairs can be carried out on site at Diamond Alloys.

mercedesi-alloy-wheel-refurbishment-split-rims

Our client wanted his Mercedes rims repaired and refurbished back to their original look. After the buckle damage had been repaired on our straightening machine they were cleaned in our aquablast machine before being passed to the prep team for some alloy TLC.

If your tyres are losing air it is an indication you might have sustained a crack or buckle, which can often happen when driving over pot holes. Repairing both of these issues is essential if you want to pass your MOT and will help reduce excessive wear and tear on your tyres.

As we carry out all repairs on site we can keep the turnaround time and costs low, something which we know our customers appreciate. Call our helpful team on 0845 370 8881 or get an on-line quotation here.

Our technicians carefully cleaned and prepped the wheels before powder coating them to produce a smooth base layer. Patrick wanted painted inserts to match the bodywork of his car with a Diamond Cut face to show off the stunning spoke design of the wheel.

When Patrick collected his vehicle today he was very pleased with the result and said ”It’s hard to believe they look brand new. Service was amazing and glad my car was looked after. Very pleased.”

Happy Customer at Diamond Alloys

diamond-alloys-feedback-jbCustomer Jay Bansi was so happy with the results of his refurbishment he happily posed for a picture with his completed wheels back on his BMW.

Take a close look at the wheels when they arrived to our London refurbishment centre and you will see they are very badly corroded. In this condition alloy wheels look unattractive and beyond repair, but in fact it is pretty simple for Diamond Alloys to bring corroded alloy wheels back to life.

Out skilled technicians strip back the alloy wheels to ensure all of the corrosion is removed. They are cleaned and prepped before being powder coated (for an even finish) painted before having the face Diamond Cut and their final protective layer of lacquer is added. A Diamond Cut finish really looks spectacular, especially on a alloy wheel design as detailed as this. With dark grey or black inserts the design really pops, so we are not surprised Jay was so happy!

great-customer-feedback

When Jay arrived and saw the alloys on his wheels, he was very happy indeed and said “Exceptional service, saved a mini fortune, and it looks as though I’ve just had 4 new alloys fitted to my M3. Wouldn’t hesitate in recommending Diamond Alloys.“ All in a day’s work at Diamond Alloys!
