The Diamond Alloys Team on Show!

diamond-alloys-car-show-event10

The guys at Diamond Alloys work very hard to get wheels in and turned around quickly….but we do let them out of the workshop sometimes, and last weekend saw a few of the guys pop down to The Auto Show to show off some of our brilliant alloy wheel refurbishments. The event is run by The Rotary Club of Uxbridge to raise money for the Rotary Club of Uxbridge charities.

The weather turned out to be brilliant which resulted in a turnout which was excellent with people coming through the gates steadily throughout the day.

The Diamond Alloys stand was well visited with plenty of people asking questions about the range of finishes we can offer taking the promotional flyers on the day.

Check out the pictures we took at the Auto Show and make a mark in the diary to come along to this wonderful event next year; we’ll certainly book again and look forward to welcoming everyone.

If your car needs a spruce up, then you don’t have to wait til next year, pop down to our West London workshop and we’ll give you a quote on the spot. Alternatively call us on 0845 370 8881 today.

Range Rover Autobiography Alloy Wheels Get a Powder Coat and Silver Paint Finish

standard-painted-alloy-wheelWe love to keep our trade accounts happy, especially prestige clients like Pegasus Prestige!

With a prestige fleet of chauffeur cars to keep maintained and looking good at all times, Pegasus Prestige supply us with all their chauffeur vehicles including the alloys from this Range Rover  Autobiography. They pride themselves on keeping their cars looking immaculate and so it is important that any scuffed wheels get a refurbishment before going out to clients.

This particular vehicle goes out on hire every week, so we ensured a speedy turnaround was achieved when the alloys were kerbed quite badly on a previous job.

Our guys stripped the rims back to the bare metal before sand blasting, priming and then powder coating for a smooth layer. A final lacquer was applied to help protect them from the elements; a stunning standard painted finish was the result. If you have a fleet of cars and want to keep them looking tip top, then give our guys a call on 0845 370 8881 or email us here.

Audi A1 Gets a New Look with a Stunning Black Gloss Refurbishment

audi-a1-before-alloy-wheelYou don’t have to wait for your alloy wheels to be scuffed or damaged to get a refurbishment carried out. Many of our customers simply want to spruce up their car by applying a new paint colour to the alloys, which is a relatively cheap way of changing the appearance of your car.

Take a look at these wheels which came into Diamond Alloys via one of our big trade accounts. Their customer simply wanted to change the whole look of their vehicle and had decided that going for gloss black was the best way to achieve this. By outsourcing the job to a specialist alloy wheel repair company like Diamond Alloys meant that not only could a great finish be achieved, but also a speedy service, which is why so many body shop repair centres and garages use our services.

audi-a1-after-alloy-wheelThe process started with our guys stripping the wheel back to the aluminium base. As the car was virtually brand new there was not a great deal of damage so our prep guys only had to repair minor damage before the wheels were primed.

For a smooth surface we always powder coat the alloys before adding a final lacquered layer which gave the wheels a fantastic painted gloss black finish.

Our client Grimshaws told us their customer was very happy and the finish exceeded their expectations, which is always satisfying to hear.

How to Drive Safely in Summer

It’s tempting to think that it’s only the cold winter months that present hazards to drivers. In fact, the summertime can be just as dangerous for unwary drivers, which is why we’ve put together some top tips for staying safe on the roads this season. They are particularly pertinent if you’re setting off on holiday by car.

Make sure you take regular breaks
Particularly if you’re driving somewhere on holiday, your journey may be longer than you’re used to. Avoid making mistakes by taking regular breaks and staying hydrated.

Check before you drive
If you have access to the internet, a radio or a TV there’s really no excuse for not checking the roads before you travel. Checking for problems on your route can help you plan ahead, not mention cut down on stress which can cause you to make mistakes in the heat of the moment.

Dress appropriately
Don’t wear sandals or other clothing that may impair your driving ability. Change when you get to the beach, not at home!

Distract your kids before they distract you
Children, as parents well know, aren’t famed for their long attention spans. To ensure they don’t distract you while you’re driving, make sure you have enough activities for them to do in the car, be that videos, audiobooks or games they can play in their seats.

Don’t fall behind on servicing
Your call will only work well if it’s regularly checked and maintained. If you’re planning a particularly long journey or a holiday, get the car serviced a few weeks beforehand to avoid any nasty surprises.

Do your own checks
Just because it’s been in the garage recently is no excuse: it’s your responsibility to check basic aspects of your car. These include:

  • tyre pressure
  • oil
  • screenwash
  • water
  • lights
  • presence of sufficient spare parts

This list is not exhaustive – make a list relevant to your specific vehicle and make sure you check off every item before you commence a long journey.

Pack essentials
Always carry bottled water, a torch, an extra mobile phone, batteries, long-life snacks and other essentials in your car. It may sound paranoid but if you break down you’ll be glad to have them.

Research your holiday destination
If you’re taking your car abroad, there may be extra restrictions at your destination that stop you from driving as you would in England. These can include changing the strength of your lights and carrying breathalysers, so it’s worth checking before you travel.

Mind that Pothole!!

Potholes aren’t your fault. Yet, unfortunately, if you hit one you still have to take responsibility for repairing the damage. If you’d rather not fork out for busted tyres or car parts, then heed our handy guide for minimising your chances of pothole pain.

audiWatch your speed
Yes, you want to get to your destination in good time, but the main way to avoid potholes is simply to see them and have enough time to react – aka drive at a sensible speed. Remember that, if it’s raining, potholes may be hidden underneath puddles, so be extra vigilant in bad weather.

Check your tyre pressure
Regularly checking your tyre pressure ensures you notice any pothole damage immediately, not to mention stand the best chance of riding over a pothole smoothly.

Stay alert
Alertness is key – if you creep too close to the car in front of you, you won’t be able to spot the potholes. You also need to be on the watch for pedestrians and traffic that might impede your ability to swerve should you encounter a pothole.

Don’t brake
If you brake when driving over a pothole you tilt the car forward, putting more stress on your front suspension

Assume the position
Hold the steering wheel correctly to ensure you don’t lose control of your vehicle.

Stay safe
If you think something has been damaged on your car, or something has detached, then don’t pull over immediately. Instead, ensure you stop in a safe place and take proper precautions when inspecting the car or retrieving lost property.

Seek expert help
If you do think you have sustained pothole damage, get the car checked out as soon as you can. You’ll particularly need to look at wheel alignment and tyres, so make sure you go to an expert.

If you already have damage like this, don’t worry, Diamond Alloys can fix dents and even missing chunks of alloy. Just give us a call on 0845 370 8881 and we’ll quote you direct!

Triumph Stag Wheels get a Dazzling Diamond Cut Refurbishment

diamond-alloys-corrosion-refurbishment-triumphAt Diamond Alloys we deal with both consumer and trade alloy wheel repairs.

This week a trade customer approached us with a request to refurbish some 14 inch Triumph Stag wheels.

These rims were in a sad state of repair with extensive corrosion around the face which is caused when water; especially salt water, is allowed to seep underneath the protective lacquer layer. This can happen if the lacquer is compromised by hitting a kerb or from stone chips. If left untreated the corrosion will cotinine to eat away at the metal.

The alloys were placed in our acid bath which removes the corrosion before they are prepped by hand and powder coated to give our painters a smooth base before applying the gloss black paint. A diamond cut reveals the beautiful patter of these Stag wheels before a lacquer is added for protection for the elements.

If your rims need a makeover then give Diamond Alloys a call on 0845 370 8881 or email us here and we will be happy to assist with a suitable repair service. We offer consumers a discount if all 4 wheels are refurbished at the same time and have trade prices available for bodyshop and repair centres.

Time to rediscover the aesthetics of alloys

ferrari-enzo-alloysIt’s sometimes easy to forget the huge range of alloys available to us. Go to the right alloy provider, however, and they’ll open your eyes as to the possibilities – alloys that will truly make a statement about you and your personality.

If you’re lucky enough to own some of the world’s best cars, however, you might not have to make a switch. As this post on Evo.co.uk demonstrates, there are cars which come with mind-blowing alloys already attached.

One of the marques they highlight is Ferrari, whose Enzo and F40 both come with beautiful alloys. The F40 wheels, for example, come with a jagged five pointed star design that compliments the car’s dynamic design perfectly.

mercedes-amg-alloyAnother of their favourites is the McLaren-Mercedes SLR, which comes with a 19-inch turbine design created by Borbet. It’s a thrilling design, especially when moving, and reminds the viewer exactly how powerful the car really is.

Their choices are an intriguing blend of the modern and the classic.

One set of alloys from the 1960s and 70s, for example, particularly merited Evo’s attention thanks to their lightweight construction and gaps that allowed better air cooling – all resulting from a simple five spoke design that was initially only 4.5 inches wide.

This is of course the Fuch alloy wheel that came with the Porsche 991 during this era, proof, as they say, that ‘gorgeous wheel design need not necessarily be the biggest’.
