22 inch Diamond Cut Range Rover Alloy Wheel Repair

range-rover-alloy-wheel-repairAt Diamond Alloys we are proud of the finish we achieve on wheel refurbishments, our commitment to quality and service is always paramount.

Take a look at these 22” Range Rover alloys which were damaged around the centre of the alloy as well as scratched on the edges, a common problem sustained when parking too close to kerbs. Not only is this unsightly but it can also compromise the protective lacquer layer allowing water to seep in which encourages corrosion. This might sound like a disaster and expensive to replace which is why so many people are now trusting alloy wheel repair companies like Diamond Alloys to refurbish their rims at a much cheaper cost.

range-rover-alloy-wheel-refurbishmentThese rims were Diamond Cut with painted grey inserts, an attractive finish which accentuates the design of the alloy and is a beautiful finishing touch to the car which is in keeping with the original OEM finish.

If your rims need a bit of love and attention, then pop down to Diamond Alloys West London; we are just off the A40 at Target Roundabout, and we will give you some good advice and a great quote!

Diamond Alloys Repairs and Refurbishes Rotiform Wheels

IMG_8981At Diamond Alloys we can repair and refurbish wheels from 10” all the way up to 22” in size, catering for your everyday alloy wheels through to limited edition and classic car wheels for customers to keep their pride and joy looking pristine.

This week we were given a rare treat when a Golf customer came in with a damaged Rotiform wheel. Rotiform designs and build the finest cast and custom forged wheels for cars which are highly sought after and particularly fashionable for younger drivers. Focusing on style, strength, and aggressive fitment, Rotiform Wheels are the crowning glory on your automobile and so deserve the best when it comes to a refurbishment, which would cost considerably less than buying new.

Our customer had damaged only one of his wheels and so our technicians had to ensure a good colour match and finish was achieved to match with the other rims. They had sustained outer edge damage and we completed a full diamond cut refurbishment to bring them back to their former glory.

Lovingly Restored Mini Alloy Wheels

IMG_2338Take a look at these repaired rims and you will see how a diamond cut refurbishment can make the car look complete. When the car first arrived for inspection at Diamond Alloys all four wheels were buckled and one of them also required welding.

This mini has had its wheels lovingly restored by our team. The stunning petal design was brought to life by contrasting a black painted finish with a diamond cut face. This is one of the beauties of a diamond cut finish as it really accentuates the design of the wheel.

The shape of the wheel on this diamond cut required the lathe operator to cut them twice, once on the outer rim and once on the internal spokes. By cutting the edge the technician was able to eradicate the large amount of damage the rims had sustained around the rims.

IMG_2333When customer Jim Pelton picked up his mini he said “I’m very pleased with the final finish, they look brand new once again!”

If you have scuffed or damaged alloy wheels you don’t necessarily have to buy new. An alloy wheel repair or refurbishment can bring the rims back to life and save you money too. Remember, have all 4 wheels repaired at the same time and save even more money!

A Modern and Efficient Alloy Wheel Repair Workshop

To give clients confidence we regularly post pictures of our guys at work on facebook, twitter and now Instagram, highlighting that the range of services we offer are carried out by us on site and not farmed out to other companies. This means we can maintain quality and offer both trade and consumers a speedy service too.

IMG_6739We can offer an alloy wheel Diamond Cutting service on site in addition to a high spec powder coat service as standard on all wheels. All rims are stripped back in acid before a thorough clean in our aqublast machine. The rims are then carefully prepped before the powdercoat is applied. After the colour is applied or the Diamond Cut is made the rims receive a layer of protective lacquer to ensure they have a long life looking in tip top condition.

If you have scuffed alloy wheels and need a repair, we offer a discount when you have all 4 wheels repaired at the same time. Call our guys and they’ll be able to advise the best finish for your wheels, even if you just want to upgrade their look. Call us on 0845 370 8881 or email us direct.

How to Drive Safely in Summer

It’s tempting to think that it’s only the cold winter months that present hazards to drivers. In fact, the summertime can be just as dangerous for unwary drivers, which is why we’ve put together some top tips for staying safe on the roads this season. They are particularly pertinent if you’re setting off on holiday by car.

Make sure you take regular breaks
Particularly if you’re driving somewhere on holiday, your journey may be longer than you’re used to. Avoid making mistakes by taking regular breaks and staying hydrated.

Check before you drive
If you have access to the internet, a radio or a TV there’s really no excuse for not checking the roads before you travel. Checking for problems on your route can help you plan ahead, not mention cut down on stress which can cause you to make mistakes in the heat of the moment.

Dress appropriately
Don’t wear sandals or other clothing that may impair your driving ability. Change when you get to the beach, not at home!

Distract your kids before they distract you
Children, as parents well know, aren’t famed for their long attention spans. To ensure they don’t distract you while you’re driving, make sure you have enough activities for them to do in the car, be that videos, audiobooks or games they can play in their seats.

Don’t fall behind on servicing
Your call will only work well if it’s regularly checked and maintained. If you’re planning a particularly long journey or a holiday, get the car serviced a few weeks beforehand to avoid any nasty surprises.

Do your own checks
Just because it’s been in the garage recently is no excuse: it’s your responsibility to check basic aspects of your car. These include:

  • tyre pressure
  • oil
  • screenwash
  • water
  • lights
  • presence of sufficient spare parts

This list is not exhaustive – make a list relevant to your specific vehicle and make sure you check off every item before you commence a long journey.

Pack essentials
Always carry bottled water, a torch, an extra mobile phone, batteries, long-life snacks and other essentials in your car. It may sound paranoid but if you break down you’ll be glad to have them.

Research your holiday destination
If you’re taking your car abroad, there may be extra restrictions at your destination that stop you from driving as you would in England. These can include changing the strength of your lights and carrying breathalysers, so it’s worth checking before you travel.

Mind that Pothole!!

Potholes aren’t your fault. Yet, unfortunately, if you hit one you still have to take responsibility for repairing the damage. If you’d rather not fork out for busted tyres or car parts, then heed our handy guide for minimising your chances of pothole pain.

audiWatch your speed
Yes, you want to get to your destination in good time, but the main way to avoid potholes is simply to see them and have enough time to react – aka drive at a sensible speed. Remember that, if it’s raining, potholes may be hidden underneath puddles, so be extra vigilant in bad weather.

Check your tyre pressure
Regularly checking your tyre pressure ensures you notice any pothole damage immediately, not to mention stand the best chance of riding over a pothole smoothly.

Stay alert
Alertness is key – if you creep too close to the car in front of you, you won’t be able to spot the potholes. You also need to be on the watch for pedestrians and traffic that might impede your ability to swerve should you encounter a pothole.

Don’t brake
If you brake when driving over a pothole you tilt the car forward, putting more stress on your front suspension

Assume the position
Hold the steering wheel correctly to ensure you don’t lose control of your vehicle.

Stay safe
If you think something has been damaged on your car, or something has detached, then don’t pull over immediately. Instead, ensure you stop in a safe place and take proper precautions when inspecting the car or retrieving lost property.

Seek expert help
If you do think you have sustained pothole damage, get the car checked out as soon as you can. You’ll particularly need to look at wheel alignment and tyres, so make sure you go to an expert.

If you already have damage like this, don’t worry, Diamond Alloys can fix dents and even missing chunks of alloy. Just give us a call on 0845 370 8881 and we’ll quote you direct!

Are Bigger Wheels Going to be Better for Your Car?

photo 4.There’s a trend in the automotive industry towards bigger wheels, meaning that what might have been seen as large a few years ago is now considered decidedly average.

Before you rush to change your set, however, read our guide to both up- and down-sizing. Your wheels have a significant impact on your performance, so it’s worth taking your time on any upgrade decision. Don’t forget you can call us for advice if you need it!

More is More – Bigger Wheels

There’s no denying that big rims are beautiful, and you’ll be hard pressed to find a supercar that doesn’t have enlarged wheels. Although they look pretty, there are limits – if you have too big a rolling radius then your speedometer will give you a reading that’s less than it ought to be.

Not only will this have you questioning your car’s performance, but it also might land you in hot water with the police! A rolling radius too large for your car will also dull the acceleration because it will introduce gearing changes. Furthermore, it will also make your car sit higher, meaning you either feel a bit awkward or need to get your suspension lowered!

The rolling radius is the distance measured from the centreline of the axle to the ground, hence its crucial role in calculating the vehicle’s speed. Your manufacturer will have provided you with guidelines as to what this should be, because the degree to which your tyres are inflated affects this. If you want to enlarge your wheels for aesthetic reasons, you’re therefore going to have to make the tyre height smaller to compensate for the larger diameter of your rim – simple! Any reputable custom or tyre shop will be able to look at your existing set of wheels and make recommendations that will be both practical and beautiful.

Less is More – Smaller Wheels

fiat-500-alloy

Bigger wheels are not, however, the only way to go. Smaller rims can be very striking and, on the right car, very special.

They come with a host of benefits, too. Because the rims are smaller, meaning you’re working with a small rolling radius, you can use a higher profile tyre and ensure your ride is super comfortable.

If you’re more the boy racer type, however, you can also make your suspension so low you’ll be waving to the worms as you drive past.

DSC_6086

As we saw with the bigger wheels, however, there are also associated problems.

Not only might you have ground clearance problems if you’ve gone for the low-suspension option, but  you’ll also suffer from a speedometer that thinks it’s going faster than it really is!

Not perhaps a problem in itself, but it might cause a few wobbles amongst nervous passengers!

A very real problem, however, is brake clearance. If you have a particularly sporty car, or have invested in some high-quality brakes, you might find that they’re longer than your new small rims.

There is very little you can do in this situation, which is why consulting a professional before you make any alterations to your wheels is vital. We’re always on hand to provide tips and advice – give us a call today on 0845 370 8881.
