Alloy Wheel Powder Coat Refurbishment Speedy Service

Diamond Alloys was founded on a philosophy of offering the best service and finest finish, and to ensure this is delivered daily, new techniques and the most advanced technologies are employed. With this in mind, Diamond Alloys uses a powder coat facility to offer customers an even faster turnaround. The delivery of the very latest Powder Coat and Spray Booth technology ensures customers cars are only off the road for the shortest period of time, something which we recognise as is extremely important to both our trade and consumer clients. The efficient slim line oven offers increased capacity and quick delivery times whilst at the same time achieving a reduction in energy costs.

Why us a Powder Coat system?
Diamond Alloys uses a powder coat system because we believe it offers the best finish. Powder Coat technology is slowly replacing conventional wet paint processes and provides a harder more durable finish when compared to that of a wet paint finish. The coating is typically applied electrostatically and is then cured under heat to allow it to flow and form a “skin”.

steveBecause powder coating does not have a liquid carrier, it can produce thicker coatings than conventional liquid coatings without running or sagging, and powder coating produces minimal appearance differences between horizontally coated surfaces and vertically coated surfaces.

This technology has numerous benefits; however, the key benefit is one of speed. Diamond Alloys values our trade partners business and this investment will provide improved wheel quality and great turn-around times.

With a free collection and delivery service for trade accounts, Diamond Alloys is the only place to have your alloy wheels refurbished in London. And now with a drop off point close the Heathrow, it just got more convenient for consumers too.

Does Brake Dust Damage Your Alloy Wheels?

In short, YES. But how?

brake-dustBrake dust is caused by the abrasion between the brake discs and pads. This is perfectly normal, but if left on your alloy for an extended period of time it will start to corrode the metal which is a problem that should not be left unattended.

We recommend you wash your alloy wheels regularly; should the brake dust persist then we suggest you use a wheel cleaner which are designed to work on specific metals and alloys. Use an alloy or a nylon brush and work the corrosionsolution well into the brake dust; once lifted it can be washed away with lots of water.

If you notice that your alloy wheel has already started to corrode, then it is time to book it into a wheel repair specialist like Diamond Alloys. Even if the corrosion is quite bad we can still remove it with acid and give the alloy a fresh powder coat, re-spray and protective lacquer which will have your alloys looking as good as new.

rim-bandsWe also highly recommend rims bands which help protect your rims from kerbing damage which can damage the protective layer and allow water to seep underneath. These can be fitted at the end of your refurbishment for a small cost which alongside a refurbishment is a lot cheaper than buying new, especially if you take advantage of the Diamond Alloys 4 wheel discount.

Call us today on 0208 845 7788 and book your corroded alloy wheels in for an alloy wheel refurbishment.

Repair Cracks and Dents Caused by Potholes at Diamond Alloys

Potholes are a serious problem for drivers. Even small pot holes can cause damage to alloy wheels and tyres – and with the cold weather approaching, potholes are only going to increase in number. It’s not just potholes that can be problematic; however, even speedbumps can have the same effect, so be aware and access them with due care.

crack

Both driving over potholes, and speed bumps at speed, can cause dents and cracks to your alloy wheels. This can especially be a problem for cars with large alloys, as these require tyres with lower-profile sidewalls, which are more likely to sustain crack damage due to the fact that there is less surface area and less flexibility to absorb the impact. Even careful drivers can be subject to the odd knock or bump, and so it’s important to regularly check wheels and tyres for signs of damage.

An easy way to check for cracks is to regularly check the tyre pressure. If the air in a tyre goes down faster than usual, this is usually an indicator that a small crack or dent may have developed – even if you can’t see the crack of dent in your alloy wheel with the naked eye. It’s clearly unwise to continue driving on an alloy wheel with a crack or dent, especially because in wet conditions a large amount of water could be seeping in through the crack, getting underneath the alloys protective layer and corroding the alloy underneath.

The good news, however, is that you don’t need to buy new alloys if your alloy wheels sustain a crack or dent. Diamond Alloys have a speedy and high quality welding service that will have your alloy wheels looking as good as new, not to mention performing like they did when you first got them. Our experts examine every inch of your alloys and tyres before repairing, re-fitting and balancing them, giving you a thorough alloy wheel service that usually takes less than 24 hours.

Want to know how our alloy wheel crack repair service works? We start by grinding out both sides of the crack to remove any contamination, and then weld either side to ensure that the repair has maximum strength. Once this is completed, we grind down the weld so it’s flush with the rest of the alloy, ensuring that it doesn’t damage the inside of the tyre. If you’re concerned about aesthetics, we can also refurbish the entire alloy to have it sparkling like new. You’ll never know the alloy wheel had a crack!

If you’d like a quotation for repairing cracks or dents you’ve spotted, or think there’s a problem and would like our experts to take a look, get in touch today.

Welding Alloys Wheels

weld1Whilst we welcome the announcement this week from the Chancellor that an investment will be put into repairing potholes on the roads of the UK, we know all too well this will take a long time to implement and that damage to our beloved alloy wheels will continue.

Alloys wheels mostly sustain scratches, scrapes or kerbing damage but on occasion more serious damage can result in a crack or tear along the outside rim, as pictured here, usually sustained by hitting a pothole. The good news is that damage like this can easily be repaired and save you having to buy new rims, which is a more costly solution.

weld2After the weld repair has been completed the guys in our prep room fill and sand the alloy to produce a sound surface once again. Wheels are then powder coated to give a really smooth finish before being painted and lacquered. Once complete, you will never know any damage had been sustained!

Diamond Alloys can offer a welding crack repair service in addition to painting and diamond cutting, enabling you to get the job done all at once and in just a few days. If your alloy wheel has sustained damage like this, just send us a picture and we will be able to tell you if it can be repaired. Call us today on 0208 845 7788 and see if you can save money by opting for a weld repair service for you alloy wheels.

Take Care of Your Alloys this Winter

As alloys are often not only an investment, but also something that is integral to the unique aesthetic of your car, there really is no excuse for not looking after them. Alloys particularly need TLC during the cold winter months, so read on for an easy guide to keeping your wheels in tip top condition.

clean-alloy-wheelClean them regularly
If there is only one thing you take away from this blog, it should be that the best thing you can do for your alloys is to give them a quick clean on a regular basis.

When you’re washing your car, simply rinse your rims with a fine spray. Once they’re soaked, rub the surface to remove any lingering dust, then apply an alloy wheel cleaner with a finer brush to ensure even the hard-to-reach spots are, well, spotless. After this, rinse the wheels again and dry with a microfibre cloth. For added protection, you can also occasionally apply wheel wax – although this should only be done every few months.

Take care on the roads
It is a sad fact of life that many of Britain’s roads are in a state of disrepair. Where possible, avoid those pesky potholes and take extra care when parking  and manoeuvring near kerbs. The more care you take, the less likely it is you’ll cause unsightly or problematic damage to your alloys.

diamond-alloys-new-member-andrei-tyreGet the alloys repaired in good time
At Diamond Alloys we know that sometimes it’s impossible to avoid damaging your alloys. To minimise ongoing damage we always advise you to get them repaired as soon as possible, preferably by a specialist. Our experts have decades’ experience of repairing alloys and use the latest technology to ensure they are not just repaired but come back looking brand new.

Take them off when you switch to winter tyres
It may seem like an admission of defeat, but it’s sometimes sensible to put a cheaper pair of alloys on your car when you switch to winter tyres. This is because there is much more moisture and dirt on the roads at this time of year, and the best way to ensure your alloys can survive the winter is to not expose them to winter conditions at all. Make sure your alloys are stored in a humidity and moisture free environment and they’ll still be pristine when you come to put them back on your car in spring.

If you have any questions about these tips, or want to chat to us about the best way to protect or repair your alloys this winter, please give us a call on 0208 845 7788 today.
